We are about to share with you an incredible story! If our suspicions are correct, we might see some very dramatic and potentially disastrous events soon exploding in Iraq. Perhaps those Council on Foreign Relations articles urging President Bush to simply quit Iraq are closer to being official policy than we would like to believe.
$300-$500 MILLION GONE! IN CASH!
NEWS BRIEF: "Defense Ministry Official Says Hundreds of Millions of Dollars Was Transferred Legally to Lebanon", by Bassem Mroue Associated Press Writer, Jan 22, 2005
"BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The Iraqi Defense Ministry transferred hundreds of millions of dollars from the Iraqi Central Bank to a financial institution in Beirut to buy weapons but did so legally and with the knowledge of multinational authorities, a ministry official said Saturday ... The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, was responding to allegations by prominent Iraqi politician Ahmad Chalabi, who demanded an investigation into a decision by Defense Minister Hazem Shaalan to shift $500 million in cash to a bank account in Beirut."
This is a huge story! Someone in the Interim Iraqi Government has authorized the transfer of up to $500 million of money the Bush Administration gave the government in the first place, into Lebanese banks. Now, folks, that is a lot of money. That is the kind of money that one or more officials in the Interim Iraqi Government can retire on quite nicely if they can just escape from Iraq with their lives.
Furthermore, the excuse that this money was being used to buy weaponry on the international market also does not make sense, for the following reasons:
1). The United States is providing the training and the equipment our generals believe is necessary to stabilize the country after the elections and put down the insurgency;
2) Weapons bought on the international market must be coordinated so that different types of weapons will mesh with other types of weapons used by the various military and paramilitary units. This usually means that weaponry purchased must be from the same supplier -- usually either Russian or American.
3) It is not enough to just buy weapons, because the even more important issue is ammunition and maintenance. The purchase price for weaponry must include a steady supply of ammunition, spare parts and the expertise to maintain the weapons.
4) The price tag for such an army for a nation far exceeds $500 million; in fact, the sum can run into the many billions.
Therefore, $500 is not enough to even make a dent in buying arms for a national army, but it is quite a nice sum for an individual or a small group of highly-placed individuals on which to permanently retire.
In this vein, let us examine another news article on this subject, for you will see that the manner in which the money was "transferred" more resembles the monetary means an individual would be expected to use rather than the more professional means an official government would be expected to transfer; remember, the Iraqi government has received American aid, expertise and money necessary to set up a complete government, including the expertise to establish a professional banking system. If the government really wanted to send money out of the country to buy weapons on the international market, they could make the transfer electronically, or at least with official government checks.
To reaffirm our latter statements, above, consider this quote from an Iraqi official.
"Transferring money is a normal process, and the transfer was made with the knowledge of the Central Bank of Iraq and the Finance Ministry. This is the mechanism in place to pay for arms suppliers to the Defense Ministry', he said." (Ibid.)
Did you catch the pertinent phrase? "Transferring money is a normal process".
Since this news story illustrates the point we have just made, the following story is very revealing.
NEWS BRIEF: "Iraq can't find $300 million taken abroad to buy weapons", San Francisco Chronicle, by Dexter Filkins, New York Times, Saturday, January 22, 2005
"Baghdad -- Earlier this month, according to Iraqi officials, $300 million in dollar bills was taken out of Iraq's central bank, put into boxes and quietly put on a charter jet bound for Lebanon."
If this money transfer had been authorized by both the Defense Ministry and the Finance Ministry, there would have been no reason to step outside "normal transfer" procedures, no reason to take cash out of the Iraqi Finance Bank, put the cash in boxes and then secretly fly the cash out of country and into the vaults of Lebanese banks.
The banks of Lebanon operate much like the banks in Switzerland, where everybody and anybody who wants to safeguard a large sum of money in a country not his own, can open a secret numbered bank account which he alone can access without fear of having the money confiscated.
Furthermore, this next quote gives the lie to the claim that the money transfer was carried out with the full knowledge of the appropriate "multinational authorities".
"The $300 million deal appears to have been arranged outside the financial controls designed by the United States to help Iraq ... legally import goods. By most accounts here, there was no public bidding for the arms contracts, nor was the deal approved by the 33-member Iraqi Cabinet." (Ibid.)
Iraqi authorities were so angry that politician
Chalabi went public with this information, they threatened to arrest him on
the flimsy charges of defaming the government. Believe me, no public scandal
is necessary to defame the Interim Iraqi government because most of the citizenry
already considers all officials as being merely American pawns.
WHAT IS GOING ON?
While I can not be completely positive about what is about to occur in this murky maelstrom called Iraq, some ideas do directly present themselves.
1) High officials in the Interim Iraqi Government may be getting ready to jump out of Iraq at a moment's notice. The security situation in Iraq continues to deteriorate almost by the minute as the time approaches for the "democratic election". Just last week, the insurgency officially declared war on the election process and threatened to carry out as much violence before and during the polling process which would destroy prospects for a free and open election.
In this last week leading up to the election, the insurgency is determined to wage all-out war. We have heard from private sources that the Pentagon is concerned that the Iraqi insurgency may be planning to launch a Tet Offensive type of attack. When the Viet Cong launched this attack in March, 1968, they suffered annihilating losses, but they inflicted considerable casualties on American forces and set in motion the belief in America that the attack had successfully achieved the objectives set by the enemy. This battle was won militarily on the Vietnam battlefield, but was lost in the arena of public opinion back home.
2) High officials in the Interim Iraqi Government may have learned that President Bush is planning an abrupt withdrawal shortly after the elections. Perhaps they read the articles posted in the Council on Foreign Relations publication, Foreign Affairs, in which top CFR officials called for the immediate withdrawal of American forces. If you are unfamiliar with these two major CFR articles, please take a moment to read our Newsletter, January 15, 2005, Paragraph II.
On many occasions in the past, views expressed in Foreign Affairs become official policy in some months or years later. What if high-ranking Iraqi officials read these articles, and then checked the story out by talking to their own military and intelligence network? What if they discovered, upon checking their own resources, that a Bush plan did exist to abruptly pull out soon after the elections?
3 ) Highly ranking Iraqi officials have discovered that they and their families are targeted for capture and death. Already, insurgents have targeted Prime Minister Allawa, both in his headquarters in the Green Zone and near his home. Insurgents briefly captured distant relatives of the Prime Minister and then released them, just to prove to him they could capture his family. In the deteriorating security system that is Iraq, is it possible that Allawi has discovered significant plots against him and/or his family? If either he or his family were captured, the torture would be brutal and the death would be slow and agonizing.
This situation could cause anyone to consider fleeing, especially if he had little to no confidence in the staying power of President Bush and the Coalition Forces.
If this is the case, then it makes sense for some highly placed Iraqi officials to cause $300-$500 million in cash to simply "disappear". While we are not predicting anything, we cannot, for the life of us, understand what other motive would cause an official to take this much cash out of an Iraqi bank, stuff the money into boxes and then fly the money into Lebanon on a charter airplane.
Now that President Bush is inaugurated, events may begin to really snowball. Truly, the prophetic clock is ticking, for all mankind. Are you spiritually ready? Is your family? Are you adequately protecting your loved ones? This is the reason for this ministry, to enable you to first understand the peril facing you, and then help you develop strategies to warn and protect your loved ones. Once you have been thoroughly trained, you can also use your knowledge as a means to open the door of discussion with an unsaved person. I have been able to use it many times, and have seen people come to Jesus Christ as a result. These perilous times are also a time when we can reach many souls for Jesus Christ, making an eternal difference.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, but have been very lukewarm in your spiritual walk with Him, you need to immediately ask Him for forgiveness and for renewal. He will instantly forgive you, and fill your heart with the joy of the Holy Spirit. Then, you need to begin a daily walk of prayer and personal Bible Study.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, but have come to realize His reality and the approaching End of the Age, and want to accept His FREE Gift of Eternal Life, you can also do so now, in the privacy of your home. Once you accept Him as Savior, you are spiritually Born Again, and are as assured of Heaven as if you were already there. Then, you can rest assured that the Kingdom of Antichrist will not touch you spiritually.
