The Church of Sardis - This Church is so bad off
(dead
literally in the Greek: they exist daily as
a dead rotten corpse) that Jesus has not one
positive word of commendation but immediately
moves to strong words of condemnation. He
exposes the shocking reality of how, just like the
dead America Church today, that the bulk of the
people are full of dead unsaved people (possibly
as high as 80%) in the pews, on the boards, and
even behind the pulpit. In fact, so wretched of a
condition is this Church that even the few that
are saved are indifferent and apathetic to this
dangerous spiritual condition, just like today.
Then we see how Jesus share a merciful message
of revival to halt the backsliding that was
killing this Church. Unfortunately we refuse to
heed His words by Making Excuses for Revival,
Making Religious Facades for Revival and Making
Void the Word of God for Revival. The theme is
Revive or Die! Its a message we so desperately
need to hear in the Church today!
