THE CUTTING EDGE

World Net Daily--"The Spirit of Truth in an Age of Deceit", by Craige McMillan, 12/14/2000, http://www.worldnetdaily.com/bluesky_mcmillan/20001214_xccmc_the_spirit.shtml

In this excellent article (that we strongly recommend you read) the WND columnist Craige McMillan paints a verbal portrait of our society as being one filled with deceit. Lying about anything and everything has actually become an accepted part of everyday life and is practiced far and wide. And speaking of lying--our politicians are presently embroiled in a charade of monumental proportions and only the very naive accept their machinations at face value. But as deplorable as this is, we believe that all of it is mere child's play in comparison with that which the Bible says is coming!

We are given an astonishingly accurate description of the hour in which we live by means of words penned nearly 2000 years ago. They are found in 2 Timothy chapter three:

"But understand this, that in the last days there will set in perilous times of great stress and trouble--hard to deal with and hard to bear. For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate (greedy) desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffers), unholy and profane. [They will be] without natural (human) affection (callous and inhuman), relentless--admitting of no truce or appeasement. [They will be] slanderers--false accusers, trouble makers; intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good. [They will be] treacherous (betrayers), rash [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God. For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it--their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession. Avoid [all] such people--turn away from them" (2 Timothy 3:1-5, Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary).

Does this not vividly and accurately describe the world around us today? Is it not obviously getting worse as time passes? I am convinced that God's people are not as aware of it as we should be.

As David Bay constantly repeats, "Conditioning, conditioning, conditioning!" That which is initially abhorred will, with constant exposure, eventually become tolerated--because human nature is spiritually depraved and prone to sin. Lying is a case in point: the more we are subjected to lying by others and maneuvered by demons into situations where lying appears to be the "smart" thing to do (cheating on taxes, just to name one), the easier lying becomes for us! Wise Christians should constantly be on guard against such things. [Note: demons cannot make a Christian do anything--but they sure can (and do) push in the direction we are leaning!]

But the greater implication is that society generally degenerates to a degree proportional to spiritual decline among Christians! Therefore, judging from the extent of  ungodliness about us, we should recognize that our collective witness for Christ is exceedingly dim. How brightly is your light shining?

Since it is readily apparent that this End of the Age conditioning process must be nearing its zenith, what does the Bible say regarding that which must follow? A careful study of Bible prophecy and its related chronological "timeline" indicates to us that the "Church Age" is to be followed by a seven-year period called  "The Tribulation Period," or "The Time of Jacob's Trouble," in which the nation of Israel is to undergo God's judgment. Since the Church is not "appointed to God's wrath" (1 Thess.5:9), we believe that she will be removed prior to antichrist confirming the 7 year covenant with Israel--the event which signals the onset of the prophetic period, according to Daniel 9:27.

Therefore according to 2 Thessalonians 2:3, two distinct events are prerequisite to this period--the apostasy (lit. "the falling away") and the revelation of antichrist. Some Bible teachers see the "falling away" as a reference to the rapture itself and argue that the Greek term "apostasia" allows this interpretation. However, the majority view is that it refers to a time of gross defections from the faith with the rapture being a separate event. This currently popular view also holds that the removal of the Church via the rapture is solidly linked to the removal of the Holy Spirit (2 Thess.2:7-8), thus making it prerequisite to the revelation of antichrist--a false scenario we have dealt with in several other articles.

But the reason I bring it up again, is due to a persistent uneasiness (shared by the staff at Cutting Edge) that this popular view is wrong. If we are correct, it is entirely conceivable that the Church may be around long enough to experience the "signs and lying wonders" concurrent with the rise of antichrist--supernatural happenings designed to "blow the minds" of the inhabitants of earth! Is it not understandable that this display of overwhelming demonic power--said by the Lord Himself to be so convincing that "if possible" the very elect would be deceived! (Matt.24:24)--could easily cause millions of "Christians" to reveal their false professions of faith in Jesus Christ by virtue of welcoming an impostor--thereby fulfilling prophecy through the ultimate "falling away", of apostasy? In the deceived minds of these false "Christians" they will not have renounced anything, but in reality will have left all semblance of true faith. This coming Satanic superstar will claim to be Israel's Messiah as well as the various spiritual entities long awaited by the Moslems,  Hindus, New Age adherents, and many other religions of the world. But to those professing Christians who will welcome antichrist, this inclusivity will not be any more of a problem than it is at this hour among many denominations. This, my friends, is what the ecumenical movement was designed to accomplish.

If we are correct in these assumptions concerning the timeline of prophecy, all of us should prostrate ourselves before the throne of grace and ask God specifically for the grace and spiritual strength necessary to face what lies ahead.

WHAT IF:

Imagine, if you can, what it will be like to stand by and watch as family members, friends, and neighbors flock to the side of this man! How can one possibly dissuade them in light of what they are seeing with their own eyes--miracles so powerful that even we are impressed and almost caught up in the moment?  Having never been confronted with such a powerful display of supernatural force, who can state with any degree of certainty as to exactly how  it will effect us and how much it might tempt us to believe? My own personal position is that the Lord's statement in Matthew 24:24, referred to above, holds the key in that it says "if possible" the very elect would be deceived. It is not possible, but from the way the statement is phrased it would appear the Lord wants us to understand that because of the intensity of the moment, we will be greatly tested.

As the prophecy in Daniel states, speaking of the time of Antichrist: "... the insincere among the people will lose courage and become deserters. It will be a test, to refine, to purify, and to make those among God's people white, even to the time of the end …" [Daniel 11:35b, Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary; Emphasis added]

"To be forewarned is to be forearmed," someone has said. And our purpose with all of this is to get people to at least consider the possibility that they might have to face it some day.

If you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, but have been very lukewarm in your spiritual walk with Him, you need to immediately ask Him for forgiveness and for renewal. He will instantly forgive you, and fill your heart with the joy of the Holy Spirit. Then, you need to begin a daily walk of prayer and personal Bible Study.

If you have never received Jesus Christ as Savior, but have come to realize His reality and the approaching End of the Age, and want to obtain His FREE Gift of Eternal Life, you can also do so now, in the privacy of your home. Once you have Him as Savior, you are spiritually Born Again, and are as assured of Heaven as if you were already there. Then, you can rest assured that the Kingdom of Antichrist will not touch you spiritually.

If you would like to become Born Again, turn to our Salvation Page now.

We hope you have been blessed by this ministry, which seeks to educate and warn people, so that they can see the coming New World Order -- Kingdom of Antichrist -- in their daily news.
