Title: WOULD PRIME MINISTER SHARON REALLY STRIP ISRAEL OF HER NUCLEAR ARSENAL?

Resources to aid your Understanding

Subtitle: Many Jews today believe Israel is obsessed with committing national suicide. Sharon's seemingly positive response to the United Nations' suggestion that she give up her nuclear weapons will only fuel this belief. Is it possible? Given Sharon's quirky tendency to suddenly switch positions, and given a probable Unity Government with Liberal Shimon Peres, that proposal might be closer to reality than one might think.

THE CUTTING EDGE

INTRODUCTION

Tiny Israel has always considered that she needs a "doomsday" weapon against the Muslim horde. After all, Israel numbers less than 7 million people in the midst of 300 million Muslims and Arabs who desperately want her dead. While Israel has been able to maintain a significant technological advantage over her Arab enemies, the reality is that modern warfare is unpredictable. Israeli generals have to consider their own "worst case scenario". What might happen if some of Israel's superior weapons are not properly deployed in a critical area of combat, and enemy soldiers pour through the breach? What happens if Arab gunners just "get lucky" and wipe out Israel's superior guns, thus creating a tactical victory?

When I was invited to the annual U.S. Naval War College Strategic Assessment in June, 1999, naval admirals made this very point. They were arguing that the Clinton reductions in aircraft carrier fleets from 12 to 10, along with attendant decreases in many types of supporting ships, had made the U.S. Navy susceptible to the enemy "getting lucky" enough to sink some of our ships. Without replacement numbers, our Navy might be defeated and forced to retreat. Again and again in the two-day seminar, I heard the phrase, "Numbers do matter", from the lips of many high-ranking naval officials.

For this reason, Israel has always believed that it was necessary to keep adequate stocks of nuclear weapons at the ready so that, if Arab armies ever get a tactical advantage on the battlefield, Israel's nuclear weaponry will still win the war. Certainly, had Adolf Hitler gained the nuclear bomb at the moment Allied forces were knifing through his country, Nazi Germany would have won the war. Nuclear weapons can make that much of a difference.

Tom Clancy's movie, "The Sum of All Fears" uses this scenario at the beginning of the plot. During the 1973 war, Israel's forces were surprised and were facing possible defeat on the battlefield; to ensure victory, Israel's top leadership ordered some fighter jets to be armed with nuclear tactical warheads, and to actually take off so they could deliver their armaments at a moment's notice. One of the fighters was shot down and one of the missiles was lost. Decades later, that warhead was found and was delivered to Arab terrorists who used it as a terrorist weapon during the NFL Super Bowl.

Everybody knows that Israel deploys nuclear weaponry. Most people believe the United States gave such weaponry to Israel.

In the cauldron of madness constantly swirling around the Middle East, Jewish citizens have placed a good deal of confidence in Israel's nuclear armament. Israel simply could not be defeated by the Arabs as long as Israel kept these weapons at the ready -- or so the thinking of the average Israeli citizen functioned.

A corollary to this belief is that atomic weaponry was the one weapon no Israeli politician could possibly bargain away. This belief formed the political "third-rail" that no politician dared touch.

Is is possible that Prime Minister Sharon is prepared to touch that "third-rail" and to broach the subject of Israel giving up her nuclear weapons? The reality might surprise you mightily.

ISRAEL MIGHT GIVE UP NUCLEAR WEAPONS -- IF --

Let us now go to current news stories to see Sharon's surprising willingness to discuss giving up nuclear weapons -- under certain circumstances.

NEWS BRIEF: "El Baradei: Sharon Told Me Israel Will Scrap Nukes As Part of 'Road Map' ", Arutz Sheva, Israel National News, July 8, 2004

"Mohammed El Baradei, the chief Nuclear Watchdog for the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency met with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon today (Thursday). El Baradei claimed Sharon agreed to make Israel into a nuclear-free zone as a later stage of the so-called Road Map ... El Baradei said that Sharon told him arms-control issues are a part of the second stage in the US-backed road map. 'This is a good vision, and I hope we can turn it into concrete steps', El Baradei said. 'This is the first time I heard this statement from an Israeli prime minister, and I find it a positive development', El Baradei told students at Hebrew University."

Indeed, no Israeli Prime Minister has ever uttered the words, "nuclear-free zone", even if such an agreement is part of an overall "peace" in the Middle East. Every modern Israeli Prime Minister realized that, in negotiations, illusion may be just as important as substance, that what is not said may be just as important as what was said, and that complete thoughts may be turned into incomplete sentences. For example: Sharon reportedly told El Baradei, the chief Nuclear Watchdog for the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency:

"He would make Israel into a nuclear-free zone as a later stage of the so-called Road Map".

This is a complete thought. What Arab propagandists are likely to do is to make this sentence into an incomplete phrase, as follows:

"He would make Israel into a nuclear-free zone".

In one fell swoop, Israel could be suddenly pressured by the Americans, Europeans, Russians, United Nations diplomats, and Arabs into giving up nuclear weapons without getting the Road Map "guarantees" as originally envisioned by the "Quartet of Nations" who created the Road Map in the first place. Time after time, Israel has been pressured in just this manner. Sharon's unilateral disengagement is one prime example. Sharon repeatedly stated that he would not even consider withdrawing from Gaza until and unless the Palestinian Authority implemented their responsibilities under the Oslo Accord and other lesser agreements. After Arafat refused to abide by any of his agreements with Israel, Sharon suddenly declared that Arafat was not a "partner for peace" and would never be; therefore, Sharon announced a unilateral disengagement, thus rewarding Arafat for all his 22 years of terror and his intransigence! Arafat and his terrorist groups got exactly what they had been seeking from Israel -- a complete withdrawal from Gaza and portions of the West Bank -- without having to abide by one single agreement!

The Bush Administration applauded Sharon for his "bold vision".

Now, let us review another pertinent, related story in this discussion of Israel giving up her nuclear weapons.

NEWS BRIEF: "Israel's Sharon Links Nuclear Discussion to Peace', By Dan Williams, The Boston Globe, July 8, 2004

"JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said he could discuss ridding the Middle East of nuclear arms but only as part of a broader peace process in the future, the head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog said Thursday. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director Mohammed ElBaradei quoted Sharon as saying discussions could be part of the "road map" for regional peace -- a plan that has been stalled for months by Israeli-Palestinian violence. The Jewish state, presumed to be the region's only nuclear power, has long said it is committed to a nuclear weapons-free Middle East, but that peace must be achieved first."

This last phrase sounds so very good: "peace must be achieved first."

Possession of nuclear weapons is a solid military reality on the field of battle and in the air. "Peace" is a nebulous term that can change in a single moment. Throughout recorded history, "peace" has given way to war in minutes. By this bleary, dim, and ill-defined term -- "peace" -- how would Israel know when she had obtained a "peace" with her 3,000-year-old enemy that was good enough and solid enough to give up her solid superiority on the military field of battle? What if the Arabs were merely using this opportunity to negotiate away Israel's nuclear weapons, calculating that, on the "morning next" after intelligence had confirmed that Israel had destroyed or handed over her last nuclear weapon, Arab armies would strike?

A corollary understanding is that, once weaponry, like nuclear armaments, is surrendered, the arsenal cannot be gotten back in place quickly. Therefore, Arab armies like Egypt who have purchased huge quantities of modern American army and air force weapons, might be easily tempted into thinking that, if they strike quickly once Israeli nuclear arms are negotiated away, victory might be possible. After all, Arab armies own a tremendous numeric advantage over Israeli forces that might prove decisive once nuclear arms are out of the equation.

Before we move to the next segment of our discussion, let us examine this story from yet another angle.

NEWS BRIEF: "Sharon tells UN he wants a Middle East free of nuclear arms", by Chris McGreal in Jerusalem, Friday July 9, 2004, The Guardian (London)

"Israel and the UN's nuclear watchdog reached a public understanding yesterday with Ariel Sharon committing himself to the vision of a Middle East free of nuclear weapons. Mohammed ElBaradei, the International Atomic Energy Agency chief, described the development as a 'glimmer of hope' for the region, but left aside the sensitive question of Israel's own atomic weapons ... In an interview with the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz, published yesterday, Mr ElBaradei urged the Israeli government to consider broader regional security since its weapons would not help the Middle East amid growing nuclear proliferation."

Once again, the key words are: "Sharon tells UN he wants a Middle East free of nuclear arms" and "Ariel Sharon committing himself to the vision of a Middle East free of nuclear weapons".

Surely, old war general Ariel Sharon would never, ever, ever (infinity) consider negotiating Israel's nuclear weapons away! Right? We admit that such a scenario seems a very, very remote possibility.

Before we run to rash conclusions, though, we must remember several facts:

1. Sharon has abruptly changed positions before, shocking his hard-core constituency. For example, Sharon promised never to retreat under fire, and never to even consider a Palestinian State. Yet, here we see him retreating under fire in the Gaza Strip and we heard him appear with President Bush and the Palestinian "Prime Minister" last year to declare a Palestinian State (NEWS1817 and NEWS1819) to be a common goal of the United States, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

Sharon is gaining a reputation for suddenly reversing positions to which he has clung tenaciously for a very long time.

2. Prime Minister Sharon seems on the verge of forming a national unity government with Shimon Peres and his Liberal Labor Party. With Sharon maintaining a grip on a slim majority of Conservative Likud Ministers of the Knesset and with Peres maintaining a solid grip on his MK's, a national unity party can forge ahead on deals with the enemy not possible under either a Likud or a Labor coalition government. Not only is this reality the tactic behind the Gaza and West Bank withdrawal, but it could be the tactic which could deliver Israel's nuclear weapons to the United Nations in return for that elusive Arab "peace".

3. As we have earlier stated on many occasions, Israeli policy has long been to tempt the Arabs into thinking she is weak and indecisive and can be defeated, so she can then annihilate them once they dare attack. Oslo Accords have been the principal outworking of that trap, to encourage the Arabs to congregate in significant population centers where their people outnumber Jews 100 to 1, or greater. Then, once the natural forces brought to bear by the Oslo Accords have naturally encouraged Palestinians to live in their own towns, cities, and enclaves, a true separation of the populations could be effected; in other words, when the numbers of Jews which will have to be forcibly removed from Palestinian population centers is sufficiently low to be considered "manageable", then a true separation of populations could be carried out.

The Security Fence represents the final step in separating the populations so the Biblical End of the Age judgments of Obadiah 15-18 and Isaiah 34 can be carried out (Read NEWS1422 and NEWS1620 for full details).

Once Israel has retreated behind her modern version of the Maginot Line, her redeployment will have carved Israel into several segments, making it very difficult for the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) to adequately defend the entire country. And, while the wall may be a deterrent to suicide bombers, it will not stop rockets and mortar fire from sailing overhead, nor will it keep heavy armaments and professional Arab sappers from breaching the wall. Thus, if Sharon allows Egypt to come into the Gaza Strip, as news reports have indicated, Egyptian and Palestinian forces could build up heavy, modern forces right up against the security fence. At the right moment, an attack could be easily mounted which would breach the security fence, to be followed by infantry and heavy armament forces. Egyptian and Syrian forces could then be attacking the outer borders in support.

Whether such an attack could actually defeat Israel is not the point; the point is whether the Palestinian, Egyptian and Syrian political-military leadership believes an attack could succeed. Once the attack has begun, Israel would be free to annihilate her enemies: this is the plan. The buildup to this plan requires Israel to take actions which would convince Arab leadership that her once bountiful military advantages have been negotiated away.

4. Israel might not consider nuclear weapons to be the front-line weapons they once were, and fit for the negotiating table if the prize was sufficiently large and advantageous. How could Israel consider nuclear weapons to be obsolete? As incredible this might seem, this possibility has to be considered when all the facts are recognized and brought out into the open. Let us consider these facts now:

A. Israel possesses neutron weapons, which kill living flesh but spares hard targets such as buildings and infrastructure. While many people consider neutron bombs to be nuclear, they fall into a completely different class. They do not produce the huge heat and blasts of traditional nuclear weapons. If Israel agrees to give up her "nuclear weapons", that term is most likely to not include neutron bombs. Since Israel most definitely refuses to "confirm or deny" that she has neutron bombs, we cannot ascertain whether the IDF possesses them in sufficient quantity to defeat massed Arab armies coming from all directions.

B. Israel knows that American and Russian satellites can sense emissions from nuclear warheads (NEWS1938) anywhere in the world. Even though Arab armies do not possess this capability, Russian satellites most likely have this capability, and could be expected to provide this kind of specific location information to Arab armies. Russian specialists might even be operating in the theater during the time of conflict, flying the sophisticated aircraft (with Egyptian markings) which could take out Israel's stocks of nuclear warheads, or operating sophisticated and accurate Arab artillery which could likewise destroy the stores of nuclear warheads.

An arsenal in which the enemy knows the precise location of all its warheads at any given time is an arsenal which is problematic to the army wielding it. Israeli commanders have to take into consideration the possibility that their stores of nuke warheads could be quickly destroyed in a preemptive attack.

C. Colonel Bearden states that a "tiny, friendly country" possesses Scalar Weaponry (NEWS1776 and NEWS1776b). This weaponry is truly out of this dimension and certainly renders nuclear weapons obsolete. If Israel truly possess scalar weaponry, she might well publicly surrender nuclear weapons at the negotiating table!

We are not certain whether Arab leaders have been appraised of the capabilities of Scalar Weaponry and of the possibility that Israel might possess it. Remember that Russian leaders are more interested in cooperating with American leaders and in achieving Illuminist goals than she is in cooperating with the Arabs. Even though Russia will one day lead an attack on Israel (Ezekiel 38-39), in the time period before Antichrist arises, Russia will cooperate with America to the detriment of the Arabs -- her pro-Arab propaganda to the contrary notwithstanding.

As stated earlier, the goal would be to convince Arab leadership that they could beat an Israel devoid of nuclear weapons. Therefore, we have to watch developments carefully. If a national unity government becomes a reality, the possibility that Israel might put her nuclear weapons on the negotiating table become increasingly favorable.

All-out war would then become a certainty.

Truly, the world is getting close to the prophetic Scripture which foretells of the use of awful weaponry:

"And when He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature call out, Come! And another horse came out, flaming red. And its rider was empowered to take the peace from the earth, so that men slaughtered one another; and he was given a huge sword." (Rev. 6:3-4; Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary Computer Software Program)

To emphasize the critical phrase: "so that men slaughtered one another; and he was given a huge sword."
