MOSCOW - Russia-India naval exercises in the eastern part of the Arabian Sea between Pakistan and India will start in mid-May and will last for two and a half weeks, Russia’s Navy commander-in-chief Admiral Vladimir Kuroyedov told reporters Thursday.

During the exercises, Russian and Indian battleships are expected to carry out artillery and missile firing exercises. They will learn to conduct rescue and anti-submarine defense operations.

These exercises are unprecedented, because Russia has never before carried out such exercises with the navies of other countries, he noted.

Two groups of Russian battleships from the Black Sea Fleet and the Pacific Fleet will participate in the exercises, he added.
