Investigators Think They Know How Fire Started

Fire investigators say they have a pretty good idea how a fire started destroying a west Columbus church early Friday morning. They think accelerants were used in the blaze.

When fire fighters arrived on the scene the Full Gospel Sons of God Church was fully engulfed in flames.

According to Special Agent Patrick Berarducci several samples collected at the scene have been sent to a laboratory to identify if any accelerant was used in the fire.

Berarducci says they are not sure what caused the fire to burn as fast as it did.

So far, the fire is still under investigation.

The ATF is involved in the investigation because federal law requires the agency step in anytime a church or house of worship is involved in a fire.

The church had been under construction for about two years.
