I. Italian secular scientists have concluded their studies of the "Shroud of Turin" and are reporting that the Shroud is authentic!

But, even more exciting is that they are reporting that scientific evidence is so strong that it also proves that the Shroud CANNOT be a fake!

NEWS BRIEF: "Italian study claims Turin Shroud is Christ's authentic burial robe", by Nick Squires, in Rome, The Telegraph News (London), 19 December 2011

"Italian scientists have conducted a series of advanced experiments which, they claim, show that the marks on the shroud – purportedly left by the imprint of Christ's body – could not possibly have been faked with technology that was available in the medieval period. The research will be an early Christmas present for shroud believers ... The new study is the latest intriguing piece of a puzzle which has baffled scientists for centuries and spawned an entire industry of research, books and documentaries. "

" 'The double image (front and back) of a scourged and crucified man, barely visible on the linen cloth of the Shroud of Turin, has many physical and chemical characteristics that are so particular that the staining ... is impossible to obtain in a laboratory', concluded experts from Italy's National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Development. "

"The scientists set out to 'identify the physical and chemical processes capable of generating a colour similar to that of the image on the Shroud'. They concluded that the exact shade, texture and depth of the imprints on the cloth could only be produced with the aid of ultraviolet lasers – technology that was clearly not available in medieval times. The scientists used extremely brief pulses of ultraviolet light to replicate the kind of marks found on the burial cloth."

"They concluded that the iconic image of the bearded man must therefore have been created by 'some form of electromagnetic energy (such as a flash of light at short wavelength)'. Although they stopped short of offering a non-scientific explanation for the phenomenon, their findings will be embraced by those who believe that the marks on the shroud were miraculously created at the moment of Christ's Resurrection. "

This information is basically reported in the DVD above, "The Fabric of Time", and is a very exciting physical and scientific explanation as to why these Italian scientists -- secular all -- have concluded that the Shroud of Turin can simultaneously be proven to not be a forgery in the Middle Age and that science can replicate the markings on the shroud using "extremely brief pulses of ultraviolet light".

Therefore, modern science has concluded at least that the skeptics are wrong who have long said that some artisan in the Middle Ages skillfully created a fake burial shroud. These scientists hesitate to boldly state that the shroud is real, probably fearing intense public criticism.

However, we Christians must resolutely remember that our faith does not rest on physical evidence, but upon the Word of God. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was proven long ago by many factors other than the physical evidence of the burial shroud. What are some of these other evidences?

1) The verbal testimony of the disciples who went to the tomb and of the women who went there first.

2) The fact that some supernatural force had opened the tomb and had rendered the Roman elite force guarding the tomb impotent

3) The fact that Jesus was seen by the disciples on the Road to Eammaus, only to then disappear right in front of their eyes

4) The fact that Jesus was seen passing right through solid walls to appear to His disciples, including "Doubting Thomas", who was able to put his fingers into Jesus' wounds.

5) The fact that Jesus appeared to over 500 people on different occasions during the 40 days He was on the earth after His resurrection.

6) The eyewitness reports from the disciples who watched Jesus ascend into the heavenlies

All these are eyewitness accounts, upon which our modern system of Justice places more credibility than even on physical evidence which can be faked, or which can be disproven by later, more advanced science. Remember how advances in DNA disproved a number of murder convictions which were handed out before DNA science came on the scene?

And, physical evidence can be fraudulently created or planted by corrupt authorities who wish to influence the Justice system to produce a verdict they want. One of the major reasons O.J. Simpson was exonerated was because his attorney proved that the blood samples collected at the scene were not taken immediately to the crime lab; rather, one of the detectives took those blood samples home with him that night! Since black people believe that corrupt detectives plant evidence on the accused quite regularly, enough black jurors believed that the blood samples against Simpson were planted that O.J. was exonerated!

While I am pleased that these secular Italian scientists have proven that the Shroud of Turin could not have been fraudulently created in the Middle Ages because the technology to do that did not exist at that time, my faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ does not depend upon the Shroud of Turin being proven to be authentic.

My faith lies in the eyewitness reports which the Bible sets forth as evidence. These eyewitness reports have stood the test of critics for 2,000 years and would be strong enough to convince any modern jury.

Remember, "we are saved through faith, not by sight". (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Modern science could conclude tomorrow that the Shroud of Turin is fake and that would not shake my faith in Jesus' Resurrection on iota.

Still, the secular scientific evidence as demonstrated by the DVD, "The Fabric of Time" is riveting; this science is based upon the same inquiry by the same Italian scientists who are quoted in this featured news article.

II. The spokesman of Egypt's ultraconservative Islamist party stated that his party supported Egypt's peace treaty with Israel, shocking many analysts because militant Islam is unrelenting in their desire to annihilate Israel.

But, this radical Islamic leader then dropped the bombshell! The poison pill!!

"The spokesman of Egypt's ultraconservative Islamist party told Israeli Army Radio in unprecedented remarks broadcast Wednesday that the group is not opposed to the country's historic peace treaty with Israel. Yousseri Hamad's interview with the Israeli broadcaster is unusual for followers of the Salafi Islamic trend, who typically shun Israel for its policies toward Palestinians and its annexation of east Jerusalem, home to Islam's third-holiest site."

How can this radical Muslim leader tell Israeli Army Radio that his group does not support canceling the Egyptian Treaty which President Anwar Sadat signed with Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin on 26th of March 1979. This peace accord has proven to be very valuable in keeping the peace between Israel and Egypt for 32 years now. Radical Islamic leaders have continuously campaigned to cancel this treaty immediately.

Why would this "ultraconservative Islamist party" now suddenly switch to supporting the treaty. This stance does not make sense, so we have to "seek other sense". This "other sense" becomes apparent later in this article. Listen:

"Yousseri Hamad ... also said that his party 'without doubt' supports changes to the agreement, including raising troop levels in the Sinai Peninsula, which borders Israel."

This is the poison pill, the old Trojan Horse.

You see, one of the major provisions of this treaty -- and the one requirement which is valuable more than any other -- is the prohibition against Egypt building up military forces in the Sinai Peninsula. If Egypt can build up massive troop levels in the Sinai, that puts an attacking force right on the border with the Gaza Strip on the one side and Israel proper on the other.

Right now, Egyptian forces are not built up right on the border of Israel, thus giving Israeli Intelligence visible warning that such an attacking force is driving through
Sinai toward Israel. Since the IDF requires 72 hours to fully mobilize, Egyptian attacking forces could overwhelm Israeli forces quickly if they could move right up to the border.

If Israel were to agree to this change, she would lose her physical buffer in the Sinai Peninsula. Therefore, we can safely conclude that Israel will not agree to this change in the treaty, thus nullifying any chance that radical Islam has suddenly changed its opinion on the "necessity" of annihilating Israel.

III. American voters want a Christian candidate for President. That is the good news.

But, the bad news is that most voters are comfortable with a Mormon President!

"A nationwide Salt Lake Tribune poll shows that a Presidential candidate's religion and belief in God are important to voters. It also indicates that a majority of Americans believe Mormons are Christians ... A Salt Lake Tribune national poll found 86 percent of likely voters say it is 'very important' or 'somewhat important' that presidential hopefuls believe in God, and 70 percent consider the candidates’ faiths in determining whether to support them."

"... while 67 percent of Americans and 67 percent of Democrats want their White House contenders to be Christians, that number jumps up to 87 percent for Republicans ... The Tribune poll found that 52 percent of Americans view Mormons as Christians..."

Let me repeat this last sentence, for it may be the most important in a very long time:

Cutting Edge discovered this sad fact to be true when Mitt Romney ran for President in 2008. Therefore, since we believed that Romney would make his major push in 2012, we created this DVD with Bill Schnoebelen in late, 2010. And it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light; So it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as ministers of righteousness." Masquerading as "ministers of righteousness", Satan created a counterfeit "christianity' which we today call Mormonism. Like counterfeit money, Mormonism is much like genuine Christianity -- at least on the surface. And, many genuine Christians today are deceived into thinking that Mormonism is just another type of Christianity. This deception is made easier by two facts:

1) Genuine Christians are woefully ignorant of true Mormonism; Most Christians only know two superficial facts about Mormonism:

a) They have a great choir;

b) Some Mormon men practice polygamy.

2) Apostate Evangelical christian leaders have publicly stated that they have not trouble supporting a Mormon for President. Leaders like Joel Osteen, Franklin Graham and Bob Jones III of Bob Jones University have made these types of statements, leading their flock astray.

Once you understand the true hideous face of Mormonism, as Schnoebelen teaches on this video and once you understand the Biblical commandment to not give any encouragement or support to these types of false religions, you will be able to explain to others why Mormonism truly is a "religion created by witches for witches"!

Oh, yes, one other fact is important: Mormonism is based squarely on Freemasonry!

IV. Has the expected / prophesied civil war in Iraq begun?

Huge bombings in Baghdad kills at least 65, just days after the last G.I. left Iraq.

NEWS BRIEF: "Wave of bombings across Iraqi capital kills 69", The Boston Globe, December 22, 2011

"BAGHDAD—A wave of 16 bombings ripped across Baghdad Thursday, killing at least 69 people in the worst violence in Iraq for months. The apparently coordinated attacks struck days after the last American forces left the country and in the midst of a major government crisis between Shiite and Sunni politicians that has sent sectarian tensions soaring."

In 2006, we posted a Headline News Article in which we predicted an all-out civil war between Sunni and Shi'ite, based upon our understanding of the End of the Age prophecy against Ancient Babylon (Modern Iraq) in Isaiah 13. Read full details in NEWS2171)

Now, unfortunately, it appears that this civil war may be starting, just days after the last American troops exited this devastated country.

"... the bombings bore all the hallmarks of al-Qaida's Sunni insurgents. Most appeared to hit Shiite neighborhoods, although some Sunni areas were also targeted. In all, 11 neighborhoods were hit by either car bombs, roadside blasts or sticky bombs attached to cars. There was at least one suicide bombing and the blasts went off over several hours."

What this news segment is really saying is that both Sunni and Shi'ite were planning bombings against each other for some time leading up to the withdrawal of foreign troops.

"Figures gathered from Iraqi health and police officials across the city put the death toll at 69, and 169 injured, including the two evening blasts in western Baghdad neighborhoods that killed nine people and injured 21... For many Iraqis and the Americans who fought a nearly nine-year war in hopes of leaving behind a free and democratic country, the events of the past few days are beginning to look like the country's nightmare scenario. The fragile alliance of Sunnis and Shiites in the government is completely collapsing, large-scale violence with a high casualty toll has returned to the capital, and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is displaying an authoritarian streak and may be moving to grab the already limited power of the Sunnis."

Yes, we believe the civil war is already beginning. The withdrawal of American forces is leaving behind a power vacuum which this civil war is going to fill.

What will be the end result? We believe that this war will follow what is strongly suggested in the Isaiah 13 prophecy. Let us go to our earlier article, NEWS2171:

"By an objective standard, President Bush's invasion of Iraq (Ancient Babylon) has thoroughly destroyed that country ... "

Then, I turn to a passage in Isaiah 13 where God foretells the annihilation of the civilian population of Ancient Babylon (Iraq).

"Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth shall be shaken out of its place at the wrath of the Lord of hosts in the day of His fierce anger. And like the chased roe or gazelle, and like sheep that no man gathers, each [foreign resident] will turn to his own people, and each will flee to his own land. Everyone who is found will be thrust through, and everyone who is connected with the slain and is caught will fall by the sword. Their infants also will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered and their wives ravished." [Isaiah 13:13-16; Parallel Bible.]

At this point, God foretells exactly who is carrying out this final annihilation of the population of Iraq.

"Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who have no regard for silver and do not delight in gold [and thus cannot be bribed]. Their bows will cut down the young men [of Babylon]; and they will have no pity on the fruit of the womb, their eyes will not spare children. And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, shall be like Sodom and Gomorrah when God overthrew them. [Babylon] shall never be inhabited or dwelt in from generation to generation; neither shall the Arab pitch his tent there, nor shall the shepherds make their sheepfolds there." [Isaiah 13:17-22, Parallel Bible]

This verse may also apply to the last judgment upon this poor land, when God brings the Medes against the land of Babylon. The modern day descendants of the Medes may be the Kurds, who are right now caught in the middle of this conflict, but who are very eager to destroy Iraq in revenge for the terrible atrocities inflicted upon them by Saddam Hussein. Easton's Illustrated Dictionary lists the Medes as part of the Assyrian Empire, which covers the area of today's Iraq, Syria, Lebanon. This area borders on the mountainous border of Iran (Persia). Remember, the army that destroyed Babylon in Daniel 5 was a combined army from Medo-Persia

If the Kurds are going to be turned at the very end of the age against the now hapless Iraqi citizens after their destruction by American-led forces, then we shall see them remain quiet as Sunni / Shi'ite kill each other in huge numbers, thus weakening them dramatically against an outside enemy. Once the Kurds sense that Sunni / Shi'ite have weakened each other significantly, they will attack from northern Iraq, and will annihilate the remnants.

But, first, the civil war must be fought. And that civil war seems to be getting underway, just as the Holy Spirit revealed it in 2006.

Deacon Peter Ferriero said he begged an Alliance district superintendent Wednesday for permission to allow the church to worship through Christmas, to no avail. 'That's not a Christian thing to do', Ferriero said of the Alliance's move. 'Where is the forgiveness regardless of who is right and wrong?' "

Now note that this church has owned the property for 82 years, much longer than they have been members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

"The church, which has owned the property since 1929 but only joined the Alliance 10 to 15 years ago, requested a stay this week to allow members access while they appeal. The motion is scheduled to be argued today."

Sadly, Mr. Sundquist is right in Part II,when he reports that some church denominations are callously seizing church property and selling the land.
