I. Catholic Pope Francis I revealed his true pagan heart when he promised an early release from Purgatory if followers would follow his trip to Rio de Janeiro for Catholic Youth Day.

This ridiculous spiritual offer proves that the Catholicism of today is identical to the Catholicism in 1517 when an enraged Martin Luther sparked his revolt against pagan practices like Indulgences.

The doctrine of purgatory was introduced in 593 into Roman Catholic teachings.

"Those looking to shave some time off their purgatory stays can simply follow Pope Francis on Twitter and spread his message via other social media. The pope will offer plenary indulgences, or reductions in purgatory time, to those who participate in the Catholic Church's World Youth Day later this month in Rio de Janeiro. But those who can't make it all the way to Brazil can still earn a pass to shorten their time in limbo between Earth and heaven."

Of all the Catholic practices, indulgences prove both the paganism of the church and the fact that it really has not changed one iota since the days of Martin Luther. It seems that indulgences are most often offered as a means by which the poor Catholic soul can shorten his days in the mythical Purgatory. The word "purgatory" is defined in the Webster's Dictionary of Modern English as, "a place or state of torment". What is meant by the Catholic Church when the word "Purgatory" is used?

"All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. The Church gives the name Purgatory to this final purification..." (Catechism p.268, para #1030, 1031; Emphasis added).

What a slam against the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross! Whereas the Bible teaches that Jesus' blood sacrifice on Calvary was absolutely PERFECT in securing the eternal salvation for all eternity, the Catholic Church has invented the notion that His sacrifice was imperfect and incomplete! Purgatory is to be rejected because it is true that "... no good deeds... make any difference with respect to one's salvation." The Bible sets forth salvation as a "gift". ("For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9) In light of Biblical teaching, Purgatory is similar to making children submit to a whipping before allowing them to open their Christmas presents. Salvation is a free gift, true believers have no need of a Purgatory.

Consider again the sad state in which Catholics are said to be in at the time of their death: "...imperfectly purified.." as well as failing "... to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven."

Jesus Himself has told us there is no Purgatory!! As Jesus hung on the cross, one of the condemned thieves turned to Him for Salvation. Even though he did not enunciate all the portions of the Salvation Plan, Jesus knew his heart was broken for sin, and knew that the thief recognized Him as the only Savior of the world. Listen to this conversation, in Luke 23:39-43. We will only quote here the last statements, in verses 42-43.

"And he [the thief] said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."

Where did Jesus say this thief would wake up, that very day that he died? In Paradise!! Not Purgatory, but Paradise.

But, Purgatory has been taught in pagan religions for the past 4,000 years! Alexander Hislop captures this truth.

This teaching existed first in Ancient Paganism, from Babylon, to Greece, to Egypt and to Roman mythology. Pagan Rome had a feast of purification called "Sacrum Purgatorium". Reverend Alexander Hislop notes, in his book, "The Two Babylons":

"Go wherever we may, in ancient or modern times, we shall find that paganism leaves hope after death for sinners who, at the time of their departure, were consciously unfit for the abodes of the blest. For this purpose, a middle state has been feigned, in which, by means of purgatorial pains, guilt unremoved in time may, in a future world, be purged away, and the soul be meet for final beatitude."

When I looked in the encyclopedia under "Purgatory", I discovered a link to Hinduism and Buddhism that I did not realize existed. "Hindus and Buddhists, who believe in the transmigration of souls, also believe in heavens and hells where those souls who are not immediately reborn, spend time, according to their deserts [works] before their next incarnation. These are, in effect, the equivalent of purgatory because they are temporal states in the soul's long progress toward eventual salvation." [The Encyclopedia Americana, International Version, Volume 23, "Purgatory" article, page 19, 1997]. Did you notice the words, "not immediately reborn" in this definition of the Pagan Purgatory of Hinduism and Buddhism? This term is exactly the teaching as to why a Catholic needs Purgatory, I.e., their souls are not yet purified enough to go right to heaven. Thus, you can add the false religions of Hinduism and Buddhism to the list of Pagan religions, above, that taught Purgatory. Purgatory IS PAGAN.

II. A new promise of "Peace and Safety" in the Middle East is spawning a new concerted effort to establish a Palestinian State!

Not too long after a Palestinian State is proclaimed, the nations of Psalm 83 will launch coordinated attacks all along Israel's borders. (Read full details in NEWS1056 and NEWS1057).

"US Secretary of State John Kerry is reportedly to officially announce the resumption of the peace process before leaving Amman on Friday morning ... here has been significant process between Kerry and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas ... On Wednesday evening, Kerry urged Israel to carefully consider the 2002 Arab League peace initiative..."

While this may sound good on the surface, the content of this Arab League peace initiative is that it requires Israel to shrink to indefensible borders.

"The plan, put forward by Saudi Arabia at an Arab League summit in Beirut in 2002, offered full recognition of Israel but only if it returned fully to the June 4, 1967 lines, including on the Golan Heights and in east Jerusalem, and to a 'just solution' for Palestinian refugees. "

Adding fuel to this fire, reports came out saying that Prime Minister Netanyahu had agreed to the 1967 borders. Immediately, the Prime Minister's spokesman vehemently denied this story.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman denied on Thursday Israel had agreed to a formula for new talks with Palestinians based on the border of their future state being drawn along lines from before a 1967 war, with agreed land swaps."

Why is Israel so sensitive about accepting a reduction of her borders to the 1967 boundaries? This agreement, if ever implemented, will completely rewrite the geography of Israel and will place Israel in great physical danger.

Most military analysts believed that Israel's long term national security was very much in doubt because she just was not large enough to withstand the powerful enemies surrounding her on all sides. She had no depth of country into which she could retreat until she could counterattack. Thus, from a military standpoint, Israel was very vulnerable to attack and annihilation. The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff concluded in a June 29, 1967, memorandum for the Secretary of Defense. "From a strictly military point of view, the Joint Chiefs wrote, "Israel would require the retention of some captured Arab territory in order to provide militarily defensible borders." "Lieutenant General (Ret.) Thomas Kelly, director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Gulf War I observed: 'It is impossible to defend Jerusalem unless you hold the high ground....An aircraft that takes off from an airport in Amman is going to be over Jerusalem in two-and-a-half minutes, so it's utterly impossible for me to defend the whole country unless I hold that land'." [op. cit., "Defensible Borders"]

"Israel's return to its pre1967 borders, which the Arab states want to reimpose, would sorely tempt potential aggressors to launch attacks on the Jewish State-as they did routinely before 1967. Israel would lose the extensive system of early-warning radars it has set up in the hills of Judea and Samaria. Were a hostile neighbor then to seize control of these mountains, its army could split Israel in two: From there, it is only about 15 miles-without any major geographic obstacles-to the Mediterranean. At their narrowest point, these 1967 lines are within 9 miles of the Israeli coast, 11 miles from Tel Aviv, 10 from Beersheba, 21 from Haifa and one foot from Jerusalem." [Ibid.]

Thus, you can see the insanity of voluntarily withdrawing back to pre-1967 borders, especially when you have such a hostile population with which to contend as the Palestinians and such adversaries on each border as Syria and Egypt, both of which are armed to the teeth with over 100,000 theater missiles.

If Prime Minister Netanyahu secretly agreed to withdraw back to the indefensible pre-1967 borders, then the stage for the Psalm 83 war is set.
