Without a watchful and discerning heart, we are
too easily deceived by a crafty adversary.
While we rejoice, praise God, give thanks, and
remain hopeful through it all, we must be alert
to the deception that is all around us. Jesus
said 'Take heed that no man deceive you.' Be
watchful. Be discerning. Keep looking up. Keep
pressing on. Christian seek not yet repose,
Cast thy dreams of ease away;
Thou art in the midst of foes: Watch and pray.
Watch as if that alone were the issue of the
day;
Pray that help may be sent down: Watch and
pray.
