TimesOnline April 17, 2003
India has confirmed its first case of Sars, a man who contracted the deadly
virus after visiting Hong Kong and Singapore. Meanwhile, officials across Asia
were struggling to hone their detection of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
(Sars) among travellers. Air travel has been instrumental in spreading Sars
around the globe, and Singapore has started scanning incoming air passengers
for fever using military heat sensors, while Hong Kong is taking the temperature
of anyone boarding a plane.
