While al-Makdissi had little influence in a country largely run by the military and security forces, his defection will be seen as a blow for President Bashar al-Assad as his government continues to battle with rebels in a 20-month uprising." Jihad al-Makdissi joins a number of other Syrian officials, including generals, who have defected. Such public abandonment of Assad's regime will be viewed by the outside world as further evidence that Assad is losing his grip on his government.

The meeting between the two leaders is significant as Russia is known for its proximity to Syria, while Turkey is backing the rebels trying to oust President Bashar al-Assad." "The West is pushing for President Bashar Al Assad's ouster while Russia and China are trying to prevent outside interference in Syria. They maintain that the Assad regime and the opposition are both to blame for the bloodshed. Veto-wielding Moscow and Beijing have thrice blocked sanctions resolutions on Syria." In the book of Ezekiel, God issued one of His most startling prophecies in all of Scripture. He foretold, in chapters 38 and 39, that, in the latter days, after Israel had been returned to her land, the nation of Russia would lead an specific alliance of nations in an attack on Israel. Now, remember, God wrote this prophecy through His prophet, Ezekiel, in approximately 592 B.C.1 which means that these prophecies were written almost 2,600 years ago! And, the stage is only now being set for their fulfillment. In 2007, we posted a most interesting Headline News article which noted that President George W. Bush was pursuing policies which were deliberately forcing Turkey into Russia's diplomatic orbit. Remember, Turkey is foretold to march with Russia in her attack on Israel (Ezekiel 38-39). I would suspect that Russian President Putin is visiting Turkey's Prime Minister Erdogan to ensure that both countries are "on the same page" diplomatically as Syria's President Assad finally topples. Events could become very hot and very dicey, so neither Russia nor Turkey can afford any incident running out of control. Before we leave this situation with Syria, remember the REAL reason Assad is under pressure to vacate his office: Syria is geographically located in Supernation #7 of the Club of Rome Plan (Northern Africa and the Middle East, NEWS2363). The objective of the so-called "Arab Spring" movements is to overthrow the entrenched dictators within Supernation #7 and #8 so their resistance to surrendering their national sovereignty to the planned regional government will be eliminated. I truly doubt that the Obama Administration has strayed so far off the original Plan that they would carry this kind of roll-back of dictatorial powers. IV. The Christian Church in America has now slipped far enough below the raging waters that a group of clery has now appeared, ready to lead pastors out of the Church! The Christian Church in America has fallen so completely into the prophesied apostasy at the End of the Age that it is now possible to consider the probability that Antichrist can now arise. Notice the progression of events here as the Christian Church literally opens the door to Antichrist! In fact, the Apostle Paul is saying that only the Christian Church can open the door to the Son of Perdition -- through the great apostasy! Here is the progression from a Church holding to the faith, and waiting expectantly for the Rapture, to the church which has opened the door to Antichrist. * "The Day of the Lord's return cannot come until and unless the " apostasy comes first, unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians". * After this apostasy has reach "great" levels, Antichrist can arise. The appearance of Protestant pastors who are now atheists and who are encouraging other pastors to join them, is a blatant sign that the Apostasy has reached such levels that the appearance of Antichrist is close. How close might he be? We have to watch Daniel 7:7-8 for our clue as to the approximate timing of Antichrist. He cannot arise until the world's nations have been reorganized into precisely 10 supernations, each with a leader.
