The claim that from 1992 until the end of the decade, Jovica Stanisic, head of Serbia's murderous DB Secret Police, was regularly informing his CIA handlers of the thinking in Milosevic's inner circle has shocked the region. Stanisic is said to have loyally served his two masters for eight years. He is facing war crimes charges at the International Criminal Court at The Hague."
The United States has always maintained the facade that she is a morally upright nation of laws, where her leaders are expected to obey the laws of the land and the laws of the international community when acting overseas. In fact, the key point which TV "talking heads" made repeatedly after President Nixon resigned was that "our system works". In other words, Nixon finally was forced to succumb to the system of laws which existed at the time of his crimes, proving that not even the President of the United States was outside the law.
Stories to the contrary were always either ignored or buried by Mass Media.
To maintain this false facade of a law-abiding nation, the American State Department has issued an annual report of "Human Rights Abuses", in which our officials became judge and jury of all other nations in the world regarding human rights. Every year, the American report would rankle some nation or other because we would claim that other nations of the world unfairly imprisoned their enemies and/or tortured and/or murdered them. By implication, America stood above the "common nations" throughout the world, pure and pristine regarding human rights.
President Bush raised this hypocrisy to a higher level during his eight years, as this "Christian" President flaunted numerous laws of the land, tortured prisoners in violation of American law, international law, and common sense. He further refused to stay within Constitutional guidelines by refusing to carry out the provision of a new law, as he issued a "Memo of Understanding" with nearly every bill he signed into law, detailing how he was not going to carry out certain portions of the law he just signed.
When President Bush stands in the docket of the International Criminal Court for war crimes, he will have given new meaning to the word, 'hypocrisy'. I wonder if American knee-jerk Christians will continue to belief this man is a Born Again Christian at this point.
Now, let us return to this featured article, as we discover exactly how evil Stanisic really was, remembering that he served the CIA during the terms of President Bush (Sr.) and President Clinton.
"In the terrifying years of Yugoslavia's internecine wars, he acted as the willing 'muscle' behind Milosevic's genocidal campaigns in Croatia, Kosovo and Bosnia, including Sebrenica. According to the charges he faces, Stanisic was 'part of a joint criminal enterprise that included former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic and other Serbian politicians. Dermot Groome, The Hague's chief prosecutor, has specifically accused him of sending in the Serb Scorpion and Red Beret death squads into the states seeking independence from Belgrade. Stanisic has pleaded not guilty."
How did Stanisic cooperate with his CIA handlers?
"Like in a Cold War spy thriller, Serbia's secret police chief met his CIA handlers in safe houses, parks and boats on the river Sava to betray his master's action plans. He provided, it is claimed, information on the whereabouts of Nato hostages, aided CIA operatives in their search for Muslim mass graves and helped the US set up secret bases in Bosnia to monitor the implementation of the 1995 Dayton peace accord."
The CIA was forced to admit that, even while Stanisic was working for them against President Milosevic, he was blatantly ordering the systematic slaughter of innocent people. What was the CIA's response?
"The emerging picture is a quaint reflection from a hall of mirrors. Greg Miller of the Los Angeles Times, writing about the links between the CIA and the Serb secret police chief, is quoted as saying: 'As I said in the LAT story, the CIA do not see Stanisic as a choirboy. When you talk to people who work in espionage, this is often the case'."
The CIA whitewashed this evil situation by saying that Stanisic was "not a choirboy", but that it was necessary in espionage work to work with people like this Serbian police chief, turning their eyes away from his evil in order for him to be "effective" for the Agency.
Americans should truly wake up to understand that people in our government do not have our best interests in their inner heart, either. President Bush ordered men to be arrested and tortured in his "war on terror", and President Obama has chosen to retain several troubling aspects of Bush's torture regime. History books during the 1950's when I was in school still taught the historical truth that the government is the most dangerous foe of a citizen's right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
In the 20th Century alone, governments have murdered an estimated 170,000,000 of their own countrymen! ("Death By Gun Control", by Aaron Zelman and Richard W. In the coming New World Order, governments all across the globe will use the planned terror campaign which will erupt after World War III breaks out as an excuse to overthrow the local elected government, replacing it with the most effective and brutal dictatorship the world has ever seen. Americans, in particular, seem to feel secure in their illusions, wanting to disbelieve that their government leaders are planning to one day imprison, torture and murder them. "The Obama administration will call for increased oversight of executive pay at all banks, Wall Street firms and possibly other companies as part of a sweeping plan to overhaul financial regulation ... The outlines of the plan are expected to be unveiled this week ... Increasing oversight of executive pay has been under consideration for some time, but the decision was made in recent days as public fury over bonuses has spilled into the regulatory effort."
Tight and severe regulation of key businesses within the economy is a key principle in a Fascist Controlled Economy. From top to bottom, we are starting to see exactly this type of regulation, the expanse of which is boggling the minds of people who do not understand what is occurring. People are amazed that the President could order executive pay to be severely limited or that Congress could actually force a bonus to an executive to be paid back under the penalty of ruinous taxation.
Under the old Capitalist system, the government did not possess this type of power. But, under the newly developing Fascist Economy, the government wields exactly this type of authority.
As many ways as you want to count, America's economy is transitioning rapidly into this new economy.

"The White House and Congress are rushing to write legislation that allows the federal government to take over and unwind the businesses of a large financial institution—such as AIG or Citigroup —the way it now can with commercial banks ... The regulatory authority—similar to the FDIC’s so-called bridge bank powers—was originally expected to be included in a broader reform package addressing systemic risk. But now it's being crafted as stand-alone legislation in the wake of the public uproar over the AIG executive bonuses."
President Obama is not only supportive of this new regulatory power, he is asking Congress to "fast-track" it to his desk.
"The legislation, being spearheaded by House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) could be ready for mark-up before Congress’ spring recess, which starts April 6, according to a senior Congressional staffer. A public hearing is also expected. 'The President has asked us to fast-track', said the source. 'Drafting is going on at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue'.”
I see. Both Congress and the White House are drafting the provisions of this new set of powers.
"The President Wednesday referred to the pressing need for such authority 'get a proper mechanism in place', adding he had discussed the issue with Rep Frank. It is unclear who is handling it on the Senate side, but it would presumably come under the portfolio of the Finance Committee, chaired by Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) ... Though the Obama administration has been candid about both its disapproval and frustration over the bonus situation, it has tried to move beyond the current controversy by focusing on the need for new regulatory powers."
"Such authority would allow the government to seize control of companies that posed a risk to the system and unwind their businesses in an orderly, yet expeditious fashion. Such authority would presumably allow the government to amend contracts, as necessary."
Slowly, but surely and certainly thoroughly, the government is taking control of privately owned companies -- just as we would expect to see in a Fascist Economy. Soon, the government will effectively control the entire complex economy, even as they allowing individual buying decisions with the buyers of the companies.

III. In complete accordance with Cutting Edge suspicions, President Obama is following up his "surge" of forces in Afghanistan strategy with a firm plan for exiting that war!
Since President Bush's "surge" led directly to an exit plan from Iraq, we believed from the beginning of Obama's announcement of a surge in forces in Afghanistan that this tactic was going to result in a similar exit from Afghanistan. This story demonstrates that our opinion seems correct.

"President Barack Obama has said that the US must have an "exit strategy" in Afghanistan, even as Washington sends more troops to fight Taleban militants. He was speaking in a CBS interview ... Mr Obama said preventing attacks against the US remained its 'central mission' in Afghan operations. His comments come at a low-point in relations between Washington and Afghan President Hamid Karzai's government."
" 'What we're looking for is a comprehensive strategy [for Afghanistan]', President Obama told the CBS programme 60 Minutes on Sunday. There's got to be an exit strategy. There's got to be a sense that this is not a perpetual drift'."
This news article then addresses the issue of the temporary surge in this exit strategy.
"Mr Obama - who last month ordered the deployment of an additional 17,000 US troops to Afghanistan - acknowledged that military force alone would not be enough to achieve Washington's objectives, which included the defeat of Taleban and al-Qaeda militants ... According to the British-based Guardian newspaper, the White House review has proposed creating a new senior executive or prime ministerial role in Kabul to work alongside President Karzai and dilute some of his power."
Why would Washington be critical of Afghan President Karzai? After all, President Bush put him in power and has kept him there, despite numerous assassination attempts against him and despite terrific Taleban pressure against his government. The answer, according to Washington:
" 'Karzai is not delivering', a diplomat with knowledge of the review told the newspaper. 'If we are going to support his government, it has to be run properly to ensure the levels of corruption decrease, not increase. The levels of corruption are frightening'."
Corruption has been a way of life in Afghanistan for the past 3,000 years! Did the White House not know this eight years ago when Bush ordered the invasion of this corrupt country? Our huge presence in Afghanistan has not even curbed the flow of hard drugs to the rest of the world; how, then, can we expect to have a government free of corruption?
What was President Karzai's reaction to American pressure against him?
"Hamid Karzai - who faces re-election in August - has made half-hearted threats to shift his allegiance from Washington to Moscow, the BBC's Ian Pannell in Kabul reports."
Russia would love to get back into Afghanistan following their disastrous war there 20 years ago. Moscow also would appreciate the opportunity to throw Washington out on its ear. President Obama must carefully consider these factors as he plots to exit Afghanistan!

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said the initiative is vital for safety in the UK. According to him, tens of thousands of civilians have already been trained for the purpose. Brown said Sunday that the individuals range 'from security guards to store managers' who know how to 'deal with an incident and know what to watch for as people go about their daily business in crowded places such as stations, airports, shopping centers and sports grounds'."
This tactic is one of the most common in an absolute dictatorship. The central government simply must have "eyes and ears on the ground" if it is to maintain control over a restive population. This upcoming dictatorship will need this type of civilian "on the ground" army also, even though the future dictatorship will have access to unprecedented technical surveillance.
"British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said the strategy, called Contest Two, would be more open than past counter-terrorism efforts ... Brown went on to claim that more than two-thirds of the plots threatening the UK are linked to Pakistan, saying al-Qaeda members in northern Pakistan and in alleged UK networks are attempting to organize attacks in Britain."
